Downlights are lighting fixtures that are embedd-ed in the ceiling and emit decorative downlights downwardlight.
They are generally install-ed on the ceilings of bedrooms, living rooms, and bathrooms.
Different spaces have different requirements for downlight layout. The following are some reference suggestions for downlight layout:
1.Living room:
If the floor height of the living room is between 2.7-2.8 meters, you can choose to install a circle of downlights around the ceiling. The distance between the lamps and the wall is about 15-20 cm.
If the floor height of the living room is low, you can choose to install a main light in the center of the ceiling, and then install a circle of downlights around it as auxiliary lighting.
2.Bedroom:
The downlight layout of the bedroom can be determin-ed according to the position of the bed.
If the bed is place-d in the center of the bedroom, you can install a main light in the center of the ceiling and two downlights on either side of the bed.
If the bed is placed against the wall, a downlight can be install-ed on both sides of the ceiling. The distance between the lamp and the wall is about 15-20 cm.
3.Bathroom:
The layout of decorative downlights in the bathroom can be determin-ed according to the position of the mirror.
If the mirror is place-d in the center of the bathroom, you can install a main light in the center of the ceiling and two downlights on either side of the mirror.
If the mirror is placed against the wall, a downlight can be install-ed above the mirror. The distance between the lamp and the wall is about 15-20 cm.
It should be not-ed that the layout of downlights should be determin-ed according to the specific conditions of the room,
and the power, color temperature, color rendering index and other parameters of the lamps should also be tak-en into consideration to ensure the lighting effect.

What is the correct installation distance for downlights and spot lights?
Downlight:
- The distance from the corner is >50 cm;
- The distance from the wall is 40-60 centimeters;
- The distance between the two lights is 70-135 cm. The calculation plan is ½-⅓ of the wall width.
Spotlight:
- The distance from the wall is 40-60 centimeters, and it is not recommen-ded to be less than 30 centimeters;
- The closer to the wall, the smaller the light spot; the further away from the wall, the larger the light spot;
- The distance between the two lights is 65-90 cm.
The hole position and quantity of downlights can be selected according to lighting needs!
During decoration, if a design without main light is adopt-ed,
the hole position and number of downlights can be select-ed according to the lighting needs. The distance is usually about 60-90cm.
The distance between large-size-d downlights needs to be kep-t above 90cm as much as possible, while ensuring that the overall illumination meets the needs of home lighting, focusing on the lighting areas.
For example, above the coffee table, 2-3 downlights can be use-d side by side with a spacing of about 30-40cm.
If you need to arrange downlights around the ceiling of the room, you should pay attention to the distance from the wall. When the distance from the wall is about 40-50cm, you can consider using downlights.
Otherwise, use spotlights. In extreme cases, for example, if the distance from the wall is only about 15cm, you can consider using polarized downlights. At the same time, you need to consider that the distance from the adjacent wall needs to be greater than about 50cm.
The spacing of downlights needs to consider the number of downlights used, the size of the single lamp and the wattage.
If three lamps are install-ed on one side, the distance between the lamps should be between 1/4 and 1/3.
At the same time, you need to see whether the spot effect of the downlight has a more natural transition.
If you are installing simple decorative downlights in a long and narrow space, generally try to choose downlights with larger power and larger size to avoid lighting blind spots.
The spacing is usually about 1 meter. The specific installation quantity needs to consider the size of the aisle area, the required illumination and other data.
